September went by fairly quickly. We focused on small improvements to existing systems. The Bootstrap feature, for example, can now be made default on your project by ensuring that future JS exports make use of it too. Press more for the details!

Force Bootstrap

Bootstrap is a feature that ensures that large projects can work well with Crest, the JavaScript-based translation engine. With large projects, loading the entire translation dictionary at once can cause delays. The Bootstrap feature allows you to create smaller and faster exports. However, if you make frequent changes to your project, you’ll need to re-create the export often enough that it can become cumbersome. To address this, we added a new tweak that can force all future JS exports to use the previous Bootstrap work package.

To use it, first set up Bootstrap in the JavaScript publishing section. Then, once Bootstrap enforcing is enabled, you can just use the Export section as with any other export and the new JS exports you create will use Bootstrap too.

Authenticated content ingestion

Report new content during translation is useful to ensure that new content is ingested as soon as it is added to the original website. However, it is possible that unwanted content, like those coming from browser extensions, is ingested through this feature. This month, we introduced an experimental feature that allows you to restrict this feature to specific browsers. In a nutshell, you enter a specific code on the browser you want to allow. This is useful when you wish to use the reporting feature yourself but avoid the possible unwanted content.

Miscellaneous

Finally, we have a couple of small improvements, as per usual.

• We fixed a bug where in an edge case, translation wouldn’t start.
